When the raindrops hit my skin,
Before they start sinking in.
My mind goes blank, I freeze in place,
And my slow heart slows its pace.

And some call it the calm before,
A certain and impending storm.
But I prefer to think of it,
As one last momentary bliss.

Before it comes pouring down on me.

What was once a drop of rain,
Becomes a racing, roaring train.
And I can feel it breaking through,
The silence 'til there's only you.

Along with all the transpirations,
Said and unsaid conversations.
Each and everything we dreamed,
And all the plans we ever schemed.

It all comes pouring down on me.

Oh I can see now that we are just debris.
All that is left after the storm went out to sea.
Now we try to salvage the pieces from the shore.
Dreaming of life in the calm before.

When we finally realized,
That it was time to say goodbye.
